About us
A cultural organization working at the intersection of creativity, community and execution. Black Activation Movement is a cultural organization rooted in the African diaspora, operating from Amsterdam with an international outlook. We develop and deliver cultural programming, activations, and content that connect communities, surface talent, and translate cultural insight into real-world outcomes.
Our work spans public programs, institutional collaborations, and commissioned projects across culture, education, and creative industries.
Our approach
Since 1997, TLA has worked at the intersection of creativity and social engagement, using cultural production as a tool for access, visibility, and exchange. We focus on building platforms where ideas are shared, work is presented, and connections are formed — with care for both content and context.
We don’t treat culture as a trend.
We treat it as infrastructure.
Leadership
TLA is led by Bamba Al Mansour, a multidisciplinary artist, cultural strategist, and organizer with decades of experience in arts, activism, and community-based programming.
After years of independent cultural work and public engagement, Bamba was joined by Gbendembu Williams, who serves as project manager and contributor, strengthening the organization’s operational delivery and program development.
Together, they lead the conception and execution of Black Activation Month.
